Taw's Cycle and Sports has been a family owned and operated business for over 30 years. In 1990, partners Dean and Tod English bought the store from their father, whose nickname stands for "To All With Service". The store--which started with one display counter, a cash register, two shelves, and a couple of peg boards--now encompasses 3,500 square feet of retail space packed with a tremendous variety of sporting gear. Says Dean, "We're into all the things we carry; we're into the outdoors. Since we were all born and raised here, we're knowledgeable about the area." That knowledge manifests itself in the inventory. Find your favourite fishing lure, plus the best spot to cast it. Stop in to rent a bicycle, and find out the best local trails to ride. Taw's knows what you need to get the most out of what our area has to offer. Taw's is proud to sponsor a variety of local clubs and events: youth soccer, minor and rec hockey, the Powell River Regals, Kings, and Womens Hockey, plus our own Taws Hockey Club; the Malaspina Open golf tournament, the Cedar Cup and Ground Pound bike races, and the Norco trick bikes which entertain the crowd at each year's Blackberry Festival (check our events calendar for dates.) We're a member of the Powell River Visitor's Bureau and the Chamber of Commerce. Store hours are Monday through Saturday, 9:30am to 5:30pm.
